MERCEDES-BENZ CHOOSES CAIO EMILLENNIUM FOR ITS FIRST TESTS IN CHILE

2025-01-14 Mercedes-Benz do Brasil chose the body of the eMillennium, an electric model produced by urban bus manufacturer Caio, to equip the eO500U chassis in the first tests of the battery-powered bus for Chile, which was also the first country in Latin America to receive the model.

The 100% electric vehicle was demonstrated on urban stretches of Santiago, the Chilean capital, to customers and managers of the city`s public transport.

Caio`s representative and export sales manager, Ivo Belucci, highlights the importance of this action: “The tests conducted with the eMillennium on the eO500U chassis reinforce our partnership with Mercedes-Benz and our commitment to international service. From this demonstration in Santiago, more people will be able to see the quality of Caio`s products”.

Caio`s Marketing Supervisor, Monica Quemel Faioli, points out that “this is an opportunity to further expand sustainable solutions in Chile and Latin America, with products accompanied by personalized, high-quality services”.

About eMillennium

The vehicle is 12.805 meters long, allowing a maximum capacity of 91 passengers. It was built on a Mercedes-Benz electric bus chassis, model e0500U - sustainable technology, with zero pollutant emissions, which also allows for smoother and quieter driving.

The injection- molded, upholstered seats accommodate 27 seated passengers, while the spacious passenger compartment holds a further 64 standing passengers.

The eMillennium has two pneumatically operated folding doors with front boarding, four hinged windows with electric locks and fully fixed glazing. The air conditioning ensures thermal comfort for passengers during their journeys.

For more accessible and technological transportation, the vehicle has a ramp and space reserved for people with disabilities, an audio system and monitor for the driver, five internal cameras, a reversing camera, parking sensors (front and rear), USB sockets, a multiplex system and Wi-Fi. The bus also has four routes on the outside and a set of LED lights in the passenger compartment.
