In partnership with Caio, Volvo Mexico launches the Luminus, a 100% electric bus with an eMillennium body.

2023-05-08 Caio, a bus manufacturer and one of the main suppliers of solutions for urban transportation in Latin America, with a strong presence in Mexico, offers high quality products that meet international standards.
The Luminus, with an eMillennium body, is the new 100% electric bus sent to the country, and it will be supplied in SKD form and assembled at the Volvo Mexico plant, located in the state of Tultitlán.
The electric vehicle emits zero polluting gases and is part of the fleet of sustainable vehicles supporting the Mexican urban transport system in its transition to electromobility.
The Luminus bus was presented in a light show at the event celebrating Volvo`s 25th anniversary in Mexico in April. Made from polymer, a highly durable recyclable material that guarantees a high level of finish, the vehicle meets the high quality standards of Caio buses.
The Luminus is 12,000 mm long, with seating for 29 passengers and space for people with disabilities and reduced mobility. It has front access via a folding door or central access via a sliding door if the passenger needs access via a mobile ramp.
The model has a spacious interior and air conditioning, as well as tinted windows, providing users with thermal comfort. It also has lighting on the steps to indicate the level difference between the lower and upper parts of the vehicle.
For everyone`s safety, the vehicle has a pedestrian and cyclist detection system and speed limit adjustment. The doors are operated by an electro-pneumatic system with original chassis locks, which ensures that the doors remain closed when the vehicle is in motion.

The lighting for the driver is LED, and so is the itinerary, located at the top of the front and on the side, with a controller on the control panel. It comes ready for the installation of devices such as internal cameras, reversing cameras and monitors, a thermal sensor, USB sockets and an audio system. The new Caio model is yet another example of the brand`s innovative products.
