CAIO STANDS OUT AT AN EVENT ON ELECTRIC MOBILITY IN BRASÍLIA (DF)

2024-03-21 On March 19 and 20, Caio, the São Paulo bus manufacturer and leader in the production of urban buses, including electric buses, took part in the C-Move event in Brasília, DF.

The brand`s three electric buses on display were a highlight. The two school buses are the first electric buses in this segment presented to the public, and the 15-meter bus is the country`s first high-floor bus of this length.

Authorities, businesspeople, educational and research institutions, and suppliers in the electromobility chain were able to visit the products on display and attend the panels, which discussed topics relevant to the sector`s progress.

The industrial vice-president of the Caio Group, Maurício Lourenço da Cunha, who took part in the panel “The electric bus production chain and its impact on investments”, said that “Brazilian industry is 100% prepared to meet the country`s demand for electric buses and also for export. The sector still has major challenges ahead of it, such as infrastructure, batteries, and financing for operators.” At the end of the panel, he said he was “pleased that everyone is fully understanding the subject, to make it happen”.

The Caio Group`s communications and marketing manager, Tânia Pires de Souza, who was present at the event, said that important authorities on the subject were engaged in thinking about the problems and solutions, with efforts to build plans and projects that make sense for the sector, prioritizing service to the population, with quality sustainable transport”.

About the products on display

The eMillennium body was chosen to manufacture the three vehicles on display.
One of the school buses was built on an OF-1721 chassis (Mercedes-Benz), with a length of 11,380 mm and a total capacity of 54 people. The other school bus was produced on chassis 17-230 (Volkswagen), with a length of 9,170 mm and total capacity for 42 people. The third vehicle exhibited at the event has a Scania k310 chassis, a high floor, a length of 15,000 mm and a maximum capacity of 101 people. All the vehicles have Eletra electrical systems, Weg batteries and Songz air conditioning. They meet the government`s requirements for passenger transportation.
