BRT Rio fleet renewal has 35 Apache Vip 15 meters

2022-12-16 The units were presented today, in a press conference with Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, who circulated through the streets of the revitalized System.


Rio de Janeiro`s BRT, which is undergoing a fleet and structure renewal process, through a legal process, begins to receive new zero km vehicles to operate in the System.

As reported by SMTR - Secretaria Municipal de Transportes [Transport Municipal Secretariat], 17 stations and three terminals that make up the BRT Rio were completely revitalized.

One of the models chosen to operate in the System was the Apache Vip bus, Caio brand, with Volkswagen 22-280 ODS chassis, which add quality, safety, durability and comfort to the population of Rio de Janeiro.

About the Apache Vip produced

The 35 units acquired are 15 meters long and have capacity for 100 passengers, with a configuration between a conventional bus and an articulated bus, ideal for itineraries that require greater transport capacity.

The pair of axles at the front of the vehicle allows for different configurations and a capacity of 22 cargo tons.

These vehicles, with upholstered seats, air conditioning, glass glued in smoke color, door blockers and a large internal hall, guarantee a safe and comfortable journey to the users.

The bus entrance height is aligned with the platform, providing safer and more comfortable boarding. For total accessibility, the buses have movable ramps (at the doors aligned to the platforms) and semi-automatic/pneumatic elevators (at the door at road level), for accessibility of people with reduced mobility and PCD (People With Disabilities).
In addition to reserved seats, there is an exclusive area for wheelchair users or people with visual impairments, accompanied by a guide dog.

Also in line with new technological demands, the Apache Vip, destined for Rio de Janeiro, are prepared for Wi-Fi, micro-cameras, communication system with passengers, in addition to already having USB outlets scattered along the bodywork sides, allowing mobile devices charging.
