CRATEÚS EXPANDS OPERATIONS IN CEARÁ WITH 15 CAIO APACHE VIP BUSES

2024-11-08 The Ceará concessionaire Crateús has acquired 15 Apache Vip V Caio buses, the best-selling urban model in Brazil, which will operate in the Fortaleza Metropolitan Region (RMF).

Currently, the RMF is made up of 19 municipalities and is home to approximately 4 million inhabitants, which represents around 44% of Ceará’s population, according to the latest Census released by the IBGE (2022). With the addition of the new Caio buses to its fleet, Crateús will serve the cities of Itaitinga, Eusébio, Aquiraz, Cascavel, Pindoretama, Chorozinho, Horizonte and Pacajus.

Sérgio Saboia, Caio’s sales representative in Ceará, expressed his satisfaction at supporting Crateús in expanding its operations. “The operator, which previously focused on chartering and tourism, is now preparing to operate the new Caio buses in Greater Fortaleza. This is a significant step forward for urban mobility in the region”.

About Apache VIP

Of the 15 vehicles purchased, 10 were built on Volkswagen chassis and five on Mercedes-Benz chassis, both 12.7 meters long, with front engines and Euro VI technology, adopted in the country to reduce pollutant emissions. The total capacity of the models is approximately 80 people, including seated passengers, standing passengers and the driver.

Aiming for inclusive and accessible transportation, the vehicles have upholstered seats with eight seats reserved for people with disabilities (PwD), reduced mobility and the elderly, as well as a seat for people with obesity and an exclusive space for wheelchair users or people with visual impairments accompanied by a guide dog. The rear door also has another accessibility feature that makes it easier for passengers to board and disembark: the semi-automatic elevator.

The vehicles feature on-board technologies such as a reversing alarm with night attenuator, electromechanical turnstiles, eight loudspeakers, one for the driver and seven in the aisle, preparation for micro-cameras and a validator, a front electronic itinerary, LED lighting in the interior hall and in the door box, above the steps, making it easier to access the bus. And to ensure thermal comfort for passengers, all the units have been equipped with air conditioning.
