CAIO TO PROVIDE BUSES FOR THE SCHOOL BUS PROGRAM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH IVECO
2023-12-19As the result of the new tender for school vehicles under the Caminho da Escola Program, in November this year, Caio has been accredited to produce 3,500 units, which should be delivered between 2024 and 2025, part of the batch won by the Iveco automaker, which totals 7,100 units.
All the buses will be Foz model F2500 (ORE 3) version, on Iveco chassis 15-210 R model, EURO VI technology, locking axle and raised rear bumper, which makes it easier for the vehicle to access roads and rural areas that are difficult to reach, with potholes, rivers, culverts, etc.
The chassis and body are sturdy and durable, designed with reinforced suspension, higher ground clearance and 210 CV (ORE 3) FPT engine.
About the Foz version F2500 (ORE3) school bus
Foz version F2500 (ORE 3) is 11,095 mm long and has a total capacity of 59 students, plus the driver. The school model is 100% accessible and equipped with a Mobile Seating Device (MPD), making it possible for up to two people with disabilities (PWD) to get around safely.
With the aim of bringing comfort to passengers, the vehicle`s interior has air conditioning, fully upholstered seats covered in easy-to-clean material, as well as hammock-type notebook holders and bag holders to accommodate students` backpacks and other personal items.
On-board technology includes USB sockets for recharging mobile devices, preparation for the installation of micro cameras, monitor in the interior lounge, Wi-Fi system, and radio.
Some items complement the product, making school transport safer: original chassis door locks, emergency windows, passenger seats with seat belts and top speed electronically limited to 70 km/h.

Inspection for homologation
From December 4 to 7, 2023, the inspection was carried out for Foz school bus prototype version F2500 (ORE 3), at Caio Headquarters unit, in Botucatu – SP, for its homologation, which validates the start of series production of the vehicle.
The inspection was accompanied by our buyer customer Iveco, by teams from FNDE, the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology - Inmetro and an inspection body accredited by this federal authority.
In the first stage, all the vehicle`s technical documentation was checked and in the second stage, a thorough product check was carried out, assessing all the items listed in the Technical Information Booklet.
The school bus, which underwent measurements and tests related to product quality and passenger safety, was approved on December 7, 2023, as it met all the technical requirements set out in the tender.
