In spite of registering about 7 percent declining in relation to 2011, it is a positive number. In the last few years, the market showed a trend for growth.
The decrease in the first semester of 2012 was mainly due to the change of Euro III engine to Euro V, making the entrepreneurs to anticipate the purchases in 2011. In the second semester, the government incentives, such as the interest rate reduction to Finame, helped the recovery.
The domestic market was the main responsible for the demand in 2011 and 2012, being 89% in 2011 and 87% in 2012, until November, proportionally.
Caio Induscar production in 2012 declined in units, estimated 5% lower than in 2011, however, it had a growth in the market share, 4% in general and 5% in urban buses, comparing to the last year, maintaining its leadership in the urban buses production in Brazil.
In 2012, Caio Induscar launched in the market the BRT Family composed of the models Alimentadores, Articulated and Biarticulated, developed to ride in bus lanes of big cities. In the same year, restyled the Apache Vip, the bestseller model of the paulista bus builder and of the country. Moreover, a great contribution to the production was the School Bus, which is part of the Federal Government “Caminho da Escola” Program.
It is projected for the first semester of 2013 a warmed market and the same is expected for the second semester, due to the World Cup in 2014, selling articulated, urban, alimentadores and shuttle vehicles to meet transport demand in the cities that will host the event.
The bus body builder expectation for the year is to maintain the Apache Vip as the best-selling urban bus, the production of school bus (“Caminho da Escola” Program) and the sale of the BRT models. Yet, Solar, the model for Shuttle and Road segment, launched two years ago, had its sales increased at 100% this year, compared to 2011, due to its great acceptance in the market.
