EMPLOYEES OF CAIO GROUP COMPANIES TAKE THE PODIUM IN THE SESI GAMES STREET RACE

2024-08-30 On the last Sunday in August (25th), Caio and Fiberbus employees, or rather sprinters, masterfully represented the Caio Group at the Sesi Games, winning gold, silver and bronze in the “Street Race - 5 km” category.

The gathering brought together around 35 runners from various companies in front of the Sesi gate, a traditional hub of services for industry, workers and the community. The race took place in Botucatu, a city in the interior of São Paulo that is home to Caio Group companies, represented in the women`s category by Letice Souza, Beatriz Ramalho and Gislene Keller and in the men`s category by Adriano D`Império, Adilson Luiz, Douglas Machado, Felipe Aires, Paulo Pereira and Moacir Cruz.

The nine Caio Group employees had already competed internally in the Group`s 4 km race on June 30th, in preparation and selection for the Sesi Games.

The start was at 8 a.m., kicking off the Games` 5 km route, on mixed (dirt and asphalt) and uneven terrain, which included passing through the streets around Sesi, as far as Pinheiros Park, and then the way back.

In the women`s race, Letice Souza, a Fiberbus employee, shone by winning the gold medal with a time of 24 minutes and 3 seconds and, with great emotion, recounted the difficulties she faced to achieve first place in the competition: “The SESI competition was very challenging! I didn`t know the route, it had rained the day before and the terrain was mixed and uneven, requiring a physical and mental strategy to maintain a good time during the race. I was also able to count on great teamwork”.

Letice also expresses her gratitude: “I thank God for renewing my strength, the professionals who support me and the Caio Group for bringing companies into the sports context, which is so lacking in incentives. It was an honor to represent Fiberbus. In difficult times, I kept going for you, Team Fiber!”.

In the men`s category, Caio Botucatu`s athletes Adriano D`Império and Douglas Machado won silver and bronze medals respectively, giving an excellent performance in the competition.

“I`ve always taken part in races in the city, but after two years off, my motivation to start training again came with the news of the Group`s internal race. I trained for two months and won first place in the competition. After that, severe pneumonia kept me away from training, almost making me give up the Sesi race. However, six days before the race, I trained hard and managed to complete the course and win second place,” says Adriano.

Douglas has worked at Caio for 20 years and shares the joy of being able to play his favorite sport and at the same time represent the company he works for.

“For me, running is synonymous with overcoming obstacles, dedication and discipline. Qualifying for the Sesi Games and winning third place in the competition was very important. I`m proud to be part of Caio and to be able to practice this sport that has become my favorite since 2017. Thank you for the opportunity and may there be many more games to come.”

The event, organized by Sesi, had the support of Semutran for the safety of the participants. Internally, the People & Management sector supported and encouraged the participation of employees from Caio Group companies, ensuring that our athletes were welcomed during the competition.

Caio Botucatu`s industrial director, Wilson Cavalari, who also plays the sport, was present to honor the event and award the employees with medals for their respective rankings.
