2024-09-25A long-standing client of Caio, União Transporte Brasília, commonly known as UTB, operates public transportation in the metropolitan region of Brasília (DF). To renew the fleet in the Brazilian capital and surrounding cities, the company opted to acquire the best-selling urban model in the country, the Apache Vip Caio, generation five. Of the 40 units purchased, 30 have already been delivered to the company, with the remaining 10 units currently in production.
Doniselma Ribeiro de Lima, sales representative for Caio in the Brasília region, comments, “The vehicles destined for UTB not only maintain the robustness and modernity that are hallmark characteristics of the Apache Vip but are also equipped with features that align with the operator`s mission - to transport people safely, punctually, and comfortably.”.
About the Apache Vip Buses
The buses can accommodate up to 86 people, including 46 seated passengers, 38 standing passengers, one fare collector, and one driver. The vehicles are built on Mercedes-Benz OF-1721 chassis, measuring 12.765 meters in length, equipped with pneumatic suspension and Euro VI technology, which has been adopted in the country to reduce pollutant emissions.
The seats in this model are upholstered, featuring headrests and armrests for enhanced passenger comfort. Aiming for inclusive and accessible transportation, the vehicles have seven seats reserved for people with disabilities (PwD), those with reduced mobility, and elderly passengers, as well as one seat for individuals with obesity and a dedicated space for wheelchair users or visually impaired individuals accompanied by a guide dog. Additionally, the rear door is equipped with a semi-automatic lift to facilitate boarding and disembarking.
The vehicles are also equipped with onboard technologies, such as a reverse alarm with a nighttime attenuator, USB charging ports for mobile devices, and a multiplex system keyboard that alerts the driver to possible electrical failures in the bus. They feature eight speakers, provisions for micro-cameras, and LED lighting in the interior saloon and doorframe above the steps, ensuring easier access to the bus. Furthermore, they are outfitted with an electromechanical turnstile and points for validator installation.
The buses have three electronic route displays located in different positions: front, base of the dashboard, and right side, enhancing visibility of the lines for passengers.
