COLLECTIVE MOBILITY IN RIBEIRÃO PRETO ADVANCES WITH THE ACQUISITION OF MORE CAIO BRAND CITY BUSES

2023-09-26 More than 126 city buses of the Apache Vip model are being added to the collective mobility of the city of Ribeirão Preto, which is on its way to completely renewing its fleet. The units were purchased by the company Transcorp Transportes Coletivos, which is part of Consórcio PróUrbano.

The Apache Vip city bus was the model chosen by Transcorp Transportes Coletivos for another stage in the renewal of its fleet. The 126 units will operate in the city of Ribeirão Preto, SP, which is known for being one of Brazil`s major technology hubs and for moving towards becoming a benchmark in public transportation.
João Ávila, manager of Transcorp, evaluates the modernization of the transport structure and the benefits for the population: ``Ribeirão Preto is undergoing a very positive restructuring of its public transport system. Preliminary feasibility, economic and financial balance and fleet renewal studies were conducted, which provides the operator with more security and results in better quality, more comfortable and much more efficient transportation.”
The Apache Vip buses follow the Consortium`s visual standard: the vehicles for the feeder lines are green with blue details and the buses for the trunk and integration lines are blue with orange details.
The chassis meet the Proconve P8/EURO VI gas emission reduction standard and have air suspension, which is able to absorb impacts better, increasing comfort during trips.
About the Apache Vip produced
Twenty-one Apache Vip units were produced in the midibus version, with a length of 11,350 mm, seats for 68 people and three doors with front boarding. The other units manufactured have a length of 12,750 mm, seats for 80 people and the same door and boarding configurations.
The vehicles customized for Transcorp are 100% accessible, with seats designed for people with disabilities (PwD), reduced mobility and the elderly, as well as automatic elevators, a box for wheelchair users and the visually impaired accompanied by a guide dog.
The spaciousness of the lounge is complemented by on-board technology items such as a Wi-Fi system, USB sockets for recharging mobile devices and a system that identifies possible faults in the operational and electrical parts of the vehicles. All the buses have air conditioning, tinted windows with solar barriers and fully upholstered seats, providing comfort during the trip.
They come ready for the installation of components such as turnstiles, electronic validators, micro-cameras and fleet management equipment. The LED routes have been positioned at strategic points on the body, making it easier to see the lines.
