As from September 17, the vehicle will run along urban paths in the city of Osasco (SP), in experimental mode, traveling in the many different routes of public transportation in the city. In addition to eApache Vip, the Scania eMillennium, chassis, 15m long, will be also running, equipped with Eletra electrification system and WEG batteries, which is a model already recognized in the market.

Mr. Paulo Ruas, CEO of Grupo Caio, highlights that this new model “reflects the brand’s commitment with technological and sustainable innovations of the market, added to the design of the best-selling urban bus model in the country: Caio Apache Vip.”

About the electric eApache prototype

Prepared for electric drive, the fifth-generation Apache Vip bus accommodates up to 83 passengers, 39 seating, 42 standing, one ticket collector and one driver. The prototype has been assembled on Volkswagen 17-230 ODS Full Air chassis, raised floor, 12m long, equipped with Plugin electrification system.

With front boarding, the vehicle has been provided with thee bellows-type doors (front, mid and rear), located on the right side of the body. All of them have electric and emergency activation.

Another accessibility item is the semi-automatic lift, in the mid door, and the exclusive space for wheelchair users, or visually disabled persons accompanied by service dog.

Onboard technologies provided by eApache include electric air conditioning, electronic turnstile, reverse gear alarm with tone attenuator for night ride, rear sensor on the bumper, USB ports on the passenger compartment walls, LED lighting in the passenger compartment and door case (for steps), points for installation of micro cameras and ticket validator.

This model is also provided with keyboard and multiplex system, which indicates possible failures in the electric components of the bus, providing greater safety during run. It also has four electronic itinerary LED displays, located on the front and rear parts, right side, and base of the body panel, all of them equipped with controller, installed on the driver’s instrument panel.
