CAIO DELIVERS 87 NEW BUSES TO S&M TRANSPORTES IN BELO HORIZONTE

2024-07-24 S&M Transportes, a company operating in Belo Horizonte, has acquired 87 new Mercedez Bens chassis buses with Euro VI generation engines. The new vehicles are more powerful and economical. The bodywork is the modern Apache Vip V of the Caio brand, Brazil`s best-selling urban bus.

S&M Transportes is investing in renewing its fleet with the aim of offering a better service to the people of Belo Horizonte. The new buses are more modern and comfortable, as well as being more efficient and less polluting.

Belo Horizonte has a public transport fleet of around 2,600 buses and the new units will serve the Belo Horizonte Municipal Mobility Superintendence (Sumob) system, which already has around 255 S&M Transportes buses in operation.

About the Apache Vip V buses

The units are Caio`s fifth generation Apache Vip model. Of the total, 85 units are 12,470 meters long and the other two are 11,370 meters long, have a total capacity for 67 passengers and were built on OF-1726 L/59 chassis (Mercedes-Benz), with Euro VI technology.

Each unit is equipped with an automatic elevator in the central door, on the right-hand side of the body; reserved seats for people with disabilities (PwD), reduced mobility and the elderly; and an exclusive area for wheelchair users or people with visual impairments, accompanied by a guide dog, providing 100% accessibility in transport.

The vehicles allow for the installation of micro cameras, a Wi-Fi system, electromechanical turnstiles and validators to speed up the process of boarding and disembarking passengers.

All the buses have electronic LED routes and a multiplex system, which points out possible faults in the bus`s electrical system to the driver, providing greater safety.

Of the total, 85 units have air conditioning. All the buses have tinted windows, for the thermal comfort of passengers during their journeys.
