Public transport operators in Salvador expand their fleets with 169 bus units manufactured by Caio

2021-10-06 Once again, Caio is the bus manufacturer selected to manufacture new vehicles to be integrated in the Public Transport System of Salvador. 169 units of the fourth generation Apache VIP urban bus, assembled on Mercedes-Benz chassis, OF-1721 Euro V, have been purchased by the bus operator companies OT Trans - Ótima Transportes de Salvador, identified in green color, and Plataforma, identified in yellow color.

As traditional customers of Caio, the companies operating in the capital of Bahia, are focused on providing mobility services with quality and safety, for passengers and collaborators. The fleet expansion aims to improve even more these premises.

Visit of representatives of the Salvador City Administration to Caio plant

We received recently the visit of Bruno Soares Reis, Mayor of Salvador at the manufacturing plant of Caio, Botucatu unit, to inspect the buses to be supplied to the city.

The mayor comments: “Our purpose is expanding and modernizing the fleet to always attend the population with comfortable, safe and robust buses, produced by Caio, on Mercedes-Benz chassis, adding much more value to our transport services. We now have 25% of the fleet renewed with buses equipped with air conditioning, and the purchase of these new 169 vehicles, approximates us to 40% of the fleet with climate control.”

The visit also had the presence of Fabrizzio Muller, Mobility Secretary, Pablo Souza, Transport Planning Director of Salvador, Rogério Braga, Director at OT Trans, Carolina Schulze, Bus Sales Consultant of Mercedes-Benz in the Northeast region, José Gildo Vendramini, National Sales Manager at Caio and Rubens Ramone, Regional Manager at Caio.

“We appreciate the receptivity of Caio and the opportunity to know the 75-year history of the company, especially the last 20 years, and the body manufacturing process. This synergy is essential to enable us transmitting to the population our purpose of providing to the city buses made by a manufacturer committed with quality. We are sure that the citizens of Salvador are being provided with the best,” concludes the public manager.

Coordinated by the Communication and Marketing department at Caio, the meeting was conducted in compliance with all the health protocols.

About Apache VIP

All the buses have the same configurations, and are distinguished only by the visual identity color. Providing total capacity for 78 passengers, with length of 12.735 meters, they have three access doors and front boarding.

Apache VIP models offer full accessibility, with semi-automatic lifts, two spaces for wheel chair users and seats aimed to physically-handicapped persons (PcD), reduced mobility and elderly.

The passenger seats are ergonomic, easy to clean and maintain. The bus driver and the ticket taker have two hydraulic regulated seats, with headrest, providing welfare during the working hours.

Buses are equipped with air conditioning and sunlight blocking of tinted glasses, providing additional thermal comfort and convenience to the passengers during the commute.

Provided with high technology, the vehicles also have monitoring with cameras, preparation for electronic ticket validation unit, LED lighting and electronic itinerary charts, located in strategic points of the body for better view of the itineraries.
