Caio Induscar Delivers 10 New Millennium Articulated Buses for the Aracaju BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system.

2016-04-11 Caio Induscar – Indústria e Comércio de Carrocerias LTDA., was chosen to supply 10 new Millennium type articulated buses to Viação Atalaia Transportes who operate in the City of Aracaju, in Sergipe State. The municipality is an important urban, economic, cultural and political centre, and is also considered to be the university capital of the Northeast.

The delivered buses are of the articulated type and were acquired to form part of the BRT System under construction for the City of Aracaju.

The Millennium model, part of the fourth generation of Caio brand rear engined urban transport vehicles, boasts on-board technology such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Electronic Ticketing Systems, and Security Cameras. To ensure full accessibility they are also equipped with a lift, Braille stop request buttons, reserved seating for the elderly and specific areas for the disabled or people with special needs, to fully comply with standards as set by the Brazilian Association for Technical Standards – ABNT, Brazilian Regulatory Norms – NBR and the National Traffic Council – CONTRAN.

The vehicles also include injection moulded seats, side windows with tinted glass and LED electronic itinerary displays. At 18.60 metres in length the Millennium model has sufficient capacity to carry 122 passengers.

Presentation of the New Buses

At an event celebrating the anniversary of the City the Mayor of Aracaju, João Alves Filho, along with local authorities, officially presented the new buses to the populous. The 10 Millennium articulated buses delivered for the event have since commenced operation on the first BRT route, connecting the Zonal Sul Terminal at Praia de Atalaia to the Marcos Freire Terminal. Further routes will soon come into operation.

It is expected that with the implementation of dedicated lanes for vehicles on the BRT System, journey times will be 20% lower than in comparison to buses that run on conventional routes, thereby creating greater flexibility for public transport within the City, and offering more comfort and increased safety for passengers.

For Caio Induscar it is a rewarding experience to produce coachwork that meets the needs of customers, is allied with technology and the comfort of users and further contributes to the development of urban mobility.
