ITAMARACÁ RENEWS FLEET WITH 28 NEW CAIO APACHE VIP BUSES
2024-12-19Transportadora Itamaracá, the leading company of Conorte - Consórcio Norte, managed by GRCT - Grande Recife Consórcio de Transportes, recently acquired 28 units of the Caio Apache Vip V, Brazil`s best-selling urban bus.
These new vehicles will be responsible for operating the North-South Corridor, helping to improve urban mobility in the region that includes the municipalities of Recife, Olinda, Paulista, Abreu e Lima, Igarassu, Itapissuma and Itamaracá Island.
Abreu e Lima, the headquarters of Transportadora Itamaracá, is one of the largest cities in the Metropolitan Region of Recife. It has approximately 98,000 inhabitants and is located in the northern part of Pernambuco, 19 km from the capital.
Rogério César Soares, Caio`s regional manager in Recife, shares a differential that the carrier decided to implement in this renewal: “Itamaracá, committed to technological innovation, opted for elevators built into the luggage compartments, becoming the first in the Recife Metropolitan Region to adopt this new accessible model.”
About Apache VIP
The 28 Apache Vip buses purchased were built on Volkswagen 17-230 chassis, 12,745 mm long, with automatic gearbox and Euro 6 technology, adopted in the country to reduce pollutant emissions.
The total capacity is up to 85 passengers, including 46 seated, 38 standing and a driver.
The passenger compartment is spacious, with injected, upholstered armchairs with headrests, tinted side windows and four movable windows fixed with rubber. They also have emergency activation for emergency windows and hatches.
The vehicles have three doors on the right side of the body: two folding doors, front and rear, with pneumatic drive, and a sedan door, in the center, with manual drive.
For more accessible transport, eight seats have been reserved for people with disabilities (PwD), reduced mobility and the elderly, as well as a semi-automatic elevator.
The modern vehicles are equipped with onboard technology items such as a reverse gear alarm with night attenuator, electromechanical turnstile, LED lighting in the corridor and above the steps in the door box. The buses also have points for installing validators, micro cameras and facial and biometric readers.
They also have electronic LED displays in the following positions: front, auxiliary front, rear window and one in the window next to the boarding door. About Caio
