GIRE TRANSPORTES ADDS 25 NEW CAIO APACHE VIP TO ITS FLEET IN RIO DE JANEIRO
2024-12-19Gire Transportes is receiving the last units of the Caio Apache Vip V, Brazil`s best-selling urban bus model. This batch of 25 units - 15 for renewal and 10 for fleet expansion - will strengthen the company`s operations in the Intersul and Internorte consortia in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Buses are responsible for about 67% of all passengers transported in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the importance of this mode of transport for the city`s mobility dynamics, according to data from the Data Rio portal.

About Apache VIP
Out of the 25 buses purchased, 15 were built on Mercedes-Benz OF-1619/52 chassis, 11,360 mm long, with a total capacity of up to 72 people, including 36 seated passengers, 35 standing passengers and a driver.
The other 10 units were built on Mercedes-Benz OF-1721/59 chassis, 12,735 mm long, with a total capacity of up to 85 people, including 44 seated, 40 standing and a driver.
All the vehicles are equipped with front-wheel drive and Euro VI technology, which aims to reduce pollutant emissions. They have three doors on the right side of the body, two pneumatically operated folding doors at the front and rear and a manually operated sedan door in the middle of the bus. The emergency activation was installed in the front door.
To ensure everyone`s comfort and convenience during trips, the buses have fully upholstered seats for passengers and hydraulic, upholstered, side-shifting seats for the driver.
All the Apache Vip buses purchased have full accessibility and are equipped with a semi-automatic elevator in the sedan door, seats for people with disabilities (PwD), reduced mobility and the elderly, as well as a box for wheelchair users and the visually impaired accompanied by a guide dog.
The onboard technologies in these models include an electromechanical turnstile, a reverse gear alarm with night attenuator, points for installing micro cameras and a ticket validator, and LED lighting in the passenger compartment and on the steps, thus making boarding and alighting easier.
To ensure thermal comfort and better visibility of the lines, all the units were equipped with air conditioning and electronic routes located in different places: front, rear window, base of the dashboard, right side and on the inner front dome.
